Treasure Tuesday is back! Toby Sweet vs Wade Crane - 96 Taco Bell Senior Championship

It was a fun match. Little controversial there towards the end. Obvious push-out, or no?

Push out ..... but rules are rules. If asked Toby if it was a push and he answered me yes .... push it is. Many other players i would have played ball in hand as Wade did.

Was obviously a push. But ya have to call it, especially when your pushing in the direction of the OB. It was a bad mistake to make. I’d have called it on him as well. He slipped up, it happens. Just like bumping the CB with your tip-sucks but it happens too. Wade was correct in calling it. Ref was correct in his decision. That was a great match to watch, the booth was great commentary as well. I’d rate that match as a 9.5/10.

Great stuff, thx Mike 😍

Love the old classic matches. My favorite Accu-stats tape from years ago featured Mike Sigel vs Buddy Hall at the Memphis Open. It was a great match to watch. Sigel ended up winning. Can't remember the year.

It was not the same one Accustats has listed now, where Buddy won in 1989. Sammy Jones was one of the commentators in the one I had. Wished I still had that one.

I will look to see if that one was ever put on DVD.

FYI, tomorrow night is Bill Incardona vs Buddy from 94 Roanoke One Pocket. Weenie Beenie and Johnny Ervolino do some great commentary.

Would that have been the 89 Memphis Open? We have that on DVD.

Hmmm. I can't remember the year. But I do believe it went hill hill and Mike ended up winning. I also of course remember Sammy Jones was either a commentator or guest commentator. It may have been a match before the Finals that Buddy won (in 1989), also against Sigel. And it was of course the Memphis Open. That much I remember. It was a more suspenseful match than was the Finals (Hall vs Sigel).

I will keep an eye out for the Incardona vs Hall match. I had already watched the Incardona vs Matthews match from the same location (Roanoke).

Thanks! Kevin

It might not be this one. I just checked and this is Billy, Danny D and Nick Varner doing commentary.

Well thanks for checking. Yeah, that is the finals. Buddy won 13-7. The one I am speaking about was Sigel vs Hall and it went hill hill. It could have been a match before the finals of the same year, or a different year. But it was the Memphis Open. It was the better match to watch. I guess it is buried deep in the old tape archive of Accu-stat's treasures lol...

I'm guessing it was one of the matches that didn't make it to DVD. It will pop up on one of these Treasure Tuesdays.
