Triton Respirator

Pretty neat. Never used one. Only used the 3m cartridge type. What size particulate does it catch.

I am not sure. The blurb from Triton follows:

Question: What is the minimum particulate size filtered by the Triton Powered Respirator?

Answer: The filters used in the Triton Powered Respirator are depth entrapment type filters (same as most competitive units) and therefore will catch varying percentages of varying micron sizes (ie. they do not work like a sieve). Because of the more complex performance characteristics the Australian Standard gives an overall rating.

The Triton Powered Respirator uses commonly available Protector RC 64 Filter Cartridges (supplied as standard) and CIGWELD 455481 Filter Cartridges. It also uses a pre-filter which is specific to the product.

When used in the Triton Powered Respirator, Protector cartridges meet with the requirements of Performance Class PAPR P1 in AS/NZS 1716 "Respiratory Protective Devices" while CIGWELD meet with Class PAPR P2 requirements. Defined as follows:

Class P1 (relevant for Protector Cartridges) - intended for use against mechanically generated particulates of sizes most commonly encountered in industry, e.g. silica (ie. suitable for woodwork) - Leakage under 5%

Class P2 (relevant for CIGWELD Cartridges) - intended for use against both mechanically and thermally generated particulates, e.g. metal fume. (ie. Suitable for woodwork and welding). - Leakage under 1%

That would be a great sanding and cutting helmut, but further down they say 'not suitable for spraying' etc. To bad.:(

I noticed that also. I've been looking for a forced air system for spraying cues where the compressor would be completely away from the work area. I've got bad lungs and it's got where I have difficulty catching my breath when using just a conventional spraying mask. I looked on e-bay a month or so ago and there was a used one for 400.00 at the time. I think I'll check again shortly.

If it's the same one I was bidding on the $400 was a steal. Air pump and 2 masks........I looked it up and that set up retailed for around $1700
Didn't really need it but I sure hate to pass on deals like that if I can snag them!~!
A fresh air system is the only approved method for shooting urethane car coat.

My wife just presented me with one of these for an Anniversary gift. I guess she was sick of looking at the rash around my eyes Cocobolo causes.

Maybe she was just sick of looking at my face and is hoping the glass gets dirty really fast so she can't see me.

I previously had one from woodcraft that takes cartridges. Works for spraying as well, but it doesn't protect my eyes. I can just face off a piece of Cocobolo and my eyes will swell all up.

I tried it on and it seemed to fit well. It's in the charger now, so we'll see tomorrow how it works.

She was going to buy me a vacuum system, but wasn't sure what I wanted. That's my next purchase. My shop is disgusting. I can clean it all up and in an hour it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a year.

I've got one coming now that has an air pump in a separate room that delivers fresh, cool air to a full hood that covers the entire head and upper chest through a 25 foot hose that looks to be around 1 inch. This is for the spray booth as I am much more worried about the finish than I am about the dust.
