One of the best drills you can do for cut shots is break 15 balls and shoot them in with center ball to ½ a tip on the CB. It teaches the importance of not getting out of line and will improve both your position play and your shot making. If you don’t have to use spin to get on the next ball that is another variable you do away with. The more variables you can do away wth the easier this game becomes. Johnnyt
 
The point being that cut shots are much easier to judge when you use little to no spin on the CB. Most of the time you hear players say top pros hardly ever have a hard shot. One of the big things they don't say is that they hardly ever have to juice the CB. They live for natural position making shots so much easier. In the begining it will take most players more time between shots to think of the perfect angle for the next shot and to get on the next after that. Someone said in the chat a few months ago that he talks to Alex all the time and Alex doesn't think three or more balls ahead. I can't believe that. Johnnyt
 
I prefer to avoid English unless the OB is less then 1.5 diamonds from the CB, or the OB is less then 1.5 diamonds from the pocket. There are exceptions (e.g. English needed to avoid a scratch).

You can, of course, observe a no-sidespin rule with any game, drill, etc. I try to mix it in with my usual practice methods. The longer I wait between no-spin practice sessions, the more my tip seems to drift offcenter.

This sounds like a great drill especially on a barbox, im going to try it real soon. Even though I love making the cue ball dance, I wanna make it easier on my self with the close aspect of APA 8ball as I am a league member :thumbup: Thanks a lot
