Trying out shafts on different cue?

So, I'm trying to decide between a few shafts, and the good news is that I have a friend who has both of them. Excellent. The bad news is that neither of them fit my cue. The issue then is whether or not what I like (or don't) about the hit is the shaft/tip or cue and how much?

So my question is this: Is it worth it to try hitting a few balls with the shaft you're interested in while on another cue?

I think it would give you a good comparison because the butt is the same. It is giving you the same base so the only difference would be the shafts.

Try the butt with the original shaft also to see if you can feel the difference between that and the 3rd party shafts.
