Hi,

I'm trying to find contact information for a cuemaker down around New Iberia, Louisiana.

I haven't heard of him in a long time, but best I remember his first name was Mike, can't remember the last name. He called his cues "Kelly Cues" and would sign them Kelly on the buttcap and usually the year he made the cue.

Anyone know him and know if he is still making cues?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

> I always heard that Kelly Cues was based in Arkansas,I used to see a LOT of them at tournaments around Jonesboro, and over into Missouri. Most them were either plain front or simple 4 pointers, usually with rings but not always. Nice workmanship and finish, but not always totally flawless. The hit was pretty crisp, and stiff but not clunky. He used harder tips than most cuemakers, and every one I ever saw had old-school yellow Micarta ferrules. They also made a very distinctive "ping",much like an older Joss or Schon with an ivory ferrule does. BeornLS lives in Jonesboro, and may know where a couple of those cues are. Tommy D.

You did the same thing I would have done Tommy...lol. You are right though, those are the cues by the cuemaker I'm looking for. They are all piloted steel joint 5/16 x 14, I kinda suspect they were Prather forearms. Anyway, they developed quite a following in this area but no one seems to have heard from the cuemaker in about 10 years. So just wondering if he is still around. Another thing, he always used Delrin buttcaps, kind of old school looking cues. Speaking of cues Tommy, do you still have Sugar Daddy?

Mike, that Kelly you mentioned is the "other" Kelly cues person. They are more well known than the guy in Louisiana.

Anyone, if it helps, the Louisiana Kelly Cue guy had some sort of French sounding last name if I remember right, Mike something.... the only number we had for him has been disconnected.

anyway, maybe someone will see this who knows him?

> Jeff, yes I still have that Schon, but I got all bent out of shape about 6 years ago and blasted the butt cap out of it,so it doesn't have that engraved on the butt cap any more. I was playing Big Dennis,he was leading me 10-5 in a race to 11,he scratched on the break,I ran out to the hill and missed the 2 ball before a dead 3-9 combo, and just pounded it into a concrete floor. I felt sick about it,to the point that running 5 racks to the hill and then dogging it didn't feel bad any more. Oddly enough,I haven't felt a tinge of anger at the table since. Tommy D.
