Hi all

Can anyone tell me about the Tucson pool scene? Where are the best places to play, etc. Any tourneys? Snooker?
I am not interested in bar pool, only pool halls on 9' tables.
thx
steven

The best action is at Clicks, which is on 1st ave north of Fort Lowell. Mostly one pocket players during the day, 3 well maintained 9' GC's, 1 - 9' Gandy, and a bunch of smaller tables. Pockets is a nice place to play, good sandwiches, nice tables (incl. billiard tables and a 5x10) but not much action there. They are on Wilmot just north of 22nd St. Mainstreet on Broadway and Camino Seco has tourneys all the time, and lot's of 9'ers, but the equipment is not maintained very well, the action seems to be very low $, and the place fills up with kids in the evening. Depends on what you are looking for I guess. If you let me know what you like in a pool hall, and I can point you in the right direction. PM me if you want to get together and play somewhere.

I used to live in Tucson, and my favorite place to practice was Pockets on Wilmot, used to be some action there, but they do, or used to have 5'x10' snooker table that would see alot of golf action. They also have few billiard tables, probablly 8 or 10 9' gold crowns, and a few bar tables. If you go, tell Lenny Ian says hello.

Did the U of A student union set up their tables again? They had tables before I enlisted in 2003 after all the construction was done... just wondering if they're still there.

Yep, they got everything set up again, and added a very small snooker table. I think it's only an 8'. The atmospere is not what it used to be, but they are doing a much better job of maintaining the equipment. I quit going there after I had campus security called on me for gambling. The part that pissed me off was that I was asked by the two students if I would gamble, and they got to stay there and continue gambling as I was being thrown out. I probably should go there to practice, because the table time is dirt cheap for me (my wife works for UofA), and I can walk
there from my house, but I'm still bitter.

lol walking distance overrules bitterness. I got a house right on 4th ave about a mile and a half from it... eventually I plan on moving back.
