Turn down shaft from 13mm to 12mm...?

Maybe this is a better forum-category than the Main one to post this on:
I was thinking of having Will-Lee-Cue turn down my Longoni shaft from 13mm to 12mm (keeping the same taper), and cut the ferule shorter. I wonder if anyone here has done such a job and/or have some advice?

Cues

used to have shorter ferrules. Evidently, there was some playing benefit for increasing the length to begin with. What do you hope to accomplish with your modifications? I play with a 12.75 mm tip, and have no problem at all with getting all the spin I need or want. Break sticks have shorter ferrules sometimes, and jump cues. Are you going for a stiffer hit with lots of spin?

Well, I only have three cues -- two of those have very short ferrules and 11mm tips (I've played with those since I was a kid). The third one, the Longoni, has a 13mm and this long ferrule. The two old ones have less squirt, and from recently reading up on Bob Jewett's articles, I'm getting the understanding that the ferrule is quite a bit stiffer than the wood, and therefore adds more squirt. One other reason why I want it turned down to 12mm is mostly because I'm so used to my 11mm -- the Longoni feels like a log in my hand. I've also read that a slightly thinner tip will draw better... I dunno.

There is only one way to take your shaft from a long ferrule to a short
one,except to cut your shaft off & make it shorter. is that what you want?...JER

When you say deflection, is that the same as squirt? And "night and day" is that in a bad way..?

Anyways, I'm probably just a confused mortal, but from reading up on divine Bob Jewett's articles, I'm getting the understanding that the ferrule is perhaps a bit stiffer than its wood, and therefore a longer ferrule would add more squirt than a shorter one.

The reason why I want my shaft turned down to a 12mm is mostly because I'm so used to my other 11mm -- the 13mm Longoni feels like a log in my hand. Besides, I've also read that a slightly thinner tip/shaft will draw better and squirt less... but again, I'm a mere mortal, so what do I know.
