I was thinking about how I want to watch more pool on TV and this kind of occurred to me:

There are two networks that truely fit the pool demographic and neither realize it:

Spike TV and CMT

I do not watch either of these much but hear me out;

Spike TV is directed at young males ages 18-45, when you go to a tourney, what is the average demographic of a tourney player??

Spike TV used to be TNN... which was an abbreviation of The Nashville Network. So aside from NASCAR, what is really popular in Tennessee? and for that matter, most NASCAR teams are out of North Carolina...what else is extremely popular in N.C.?? ......are you starting to see it!

CMT is investing more in to reality TV and less into music... based on the reasons for Spike, why not create CMT Sports and start with Billiards?

Such moves by both these networks would not only bring in new demographics, it would provide very entertaining programming for networks struggling to provide new television shows. Such Billiard tourneys and shows could be repeated and rerun.

I think I'm on to something....if only there where some AZers who worked for either of these networks!!!

I can see FatBoy producing one hour pool shows from his new building. Down the road sometime if it can turn a profit or at least not lose money.

Your right though, pool would go over big on a country tv station. Trouble is no one at the top wants to gamble on it. They see the little numbers from ESPN (which is done ALL wrong) and they look elsewhere. From the 1800's to maybe about the 1980's business men took a shot. Now they let someone else try it, and if it takes off they have the money to push him aside and do it big time, like Walmart did to the mom and pop stores with cheap ass Chinese products.

Pool will never be big on TV until someone big in TV loves pool and/or hires a consultant that knows pool and what the fans want. Of course he/she must be sure that the TV people make a profit. Johnnyt

It seams like there are channels for just about anthing.

How about a channel for non sports games like poker and pool?

But pool is a sport. I think you mean poker and darts.
