Can someone explain what happened in this episode? All I can remember is that Klugman was his normal excellent self, while Jonathon Winters looked out of place since he was so well known for his comic routines.JCIN said:Cool episode about a pool game for life or death

Klugman won and now when he dies he'll have to bare the same curse.
not really. in fact there we're very easy shots missed and a bad shark tactic that was over done imo. the premise was good but it's obvious that was their focus not the game play so much. but like i said it was nice to see an old rambow and martin in action though.Andrew Manning said:Is there any good pool in it?

He wins the game so he lives and he knows he is the best. Years later when he dies they show him in heaven getting a call to go to a poolroom and play someone wanting to give anything to be the best. He now realizes that to be the best, he had to give up everything else in life and even now that he has died, he must still keep proving it. Thats why when he beat Jonathan Winters character (fats), fats said "thanks..." to him and Klugman didnt realize what he was thanking him for until now.Cornerman said:Does Klugman's character die before or after the game? Does he die in the episode at all? Is he trapped in that pool hall?
Fred <~~~ almost coming back to me
I watched it last night and noticed two little quirks:arsenius said:I've seen that one, it's pretty great![]()
Aha. That's why it made little sense to me. Mr. Fats Brown is a dolt. If he wanted to go fishing earlier, he may have saved the sharking techniques and brought out the dumping techniques maybe, say, a decade ago?td873 said:2) Jonathan Winters sharks Jack Klugman [drops his cue] and Klugman miscues (fouling) but doesn't subtract his point. On his turn, and instead of shooting at the last ball, Winters bunts it into duck position for Jack - which Jack makes for the win - but actually he's simply back at one point needed to win...
Fred- this might refresh your memory:
The episode ends with Rod's narration-
"Mr. Jesse Cardiff, who became a legend by beating one, but who has found out after his funeral that being the best of anything carries with it a special obligation to keep on proving it. Mr. Fats Brown, on the other hand, having relinquished the champion's medal, has gone fishing. These are the ground rules in the Twilight Zone."
