twisted the one ball while racking

I see everyone taking their finger and moving, or twisting the one ball with their finger while racking,.Does that have a bigger effect on a 9 foot table, or a Bar Box, or about the same on both. I know it makes makes the wing ball go a lot, just curious about comparing both size tables ? I also see that in some tournaments now, they are not letting the person racking touch the one ball after the rack is put over the balls...which does seem to make a big difference....Thanks ahead of time for anybodies input :-)

We all want to believe by manipulating the balls the person racking is just trying to freeze all the balls together for the greater good of mankind, BUT.....and that is a very big BUTT! any time players have the opportunity to get their hands on the rack....if racking for themselves, or not...you introduce the opportunity for shall I say Tomfoolery?, or Hyjinks, or outright cheating? :)

Racking has been one of my all time great studies. There are wonderful rack mechanics out there who can....by means of racking...for or against...very much alter the outcome of a match.

Now, I am not looking down my nose at rack mechanics by any means. If you are taking FULL advantage of your God given rights when racking and keeping inside the rules of the given event you are playing in.....well done. I have raced every kind of motorized machine you can think of....and finding the "grey area" to bend the rules in my favor is an art in itself.

Wanna hear the mantra at any given race event?

IT IS NOT CHEATING TIL YOU GET CAUGHT! :)

have fun!

The only reason I might twist the one ball, is to help freeze the top 3 balls. Some ball sets seem to not freeze well where the numbers are on the balls, especially older Centennials.

Not true. One of the best players does it two put a little gap between the balls directly behind the head ball

You only have to have an almost undetectable gap between one of the balls to wire the wing ball if you know how to hit them. That is usually the reason.

Most triangles one can't make rack so those 2 balls are frozen... My opinion is that gap is one gap that have least influence to rack and it is hardest to close.
