I have noticed alot of players have that itch in there finger either there middle finger or ring finger. Who has this and why does the finger move is it a special trick that i don't know about or something LOL, naw but serious i see this alot on T.V matches when there are shooting there fingers move to twitch up and down on the cloth could it be a soothing or calming thing?

I see this thing all the time, i haven't done it myself and i was just wondering if i was alone on this and if they even know they are doing it themselves aware of it you know. I am going to try it out tonight at practice time see what happens hehe.

i do it. i dunno why. maybe it reassures me that my bridge hand is secure...

It's their subconcious doing that. It's better than jumping up in the air, and it's a nervous/rythmic thing.

I think that it is just a habbit to settle into their shot. I see alot of good players doing it.

Ronnie O'Sullivan does it. So does Pagulayan, probably in imitation of the latter.

It can't be that important, but I'll take a stab at it... Can it be it helps them focus on the shot that's in front of them? Sort of like drawing your own attention to it? Whadda'ya think?

There!:D

If you wiggle your middle finger, turn it in a circle and tap it 3 times, then it puts a magic spell on the balls, that makes them go in :o

Seriously though, if it offers a useful function, it could be that it makes the bridge hand more relaxed and or more responsive to slight adjustments. If the hand is planted solidly, it can be a little harder to make slight adjustments. A bit like how it's sometimes easier to adjust a painting to square on the wall with small taps, rather than by pushing it all at once.

I do it sometimes. Dunno why either, just when I'm really in the zone I feel like tapping my finger so I do.. LOL My brother used to do it when we played, so I think I just kinda picked it up from him?

I can say though that I've made a conscience decision to do it and not do it in the past. For some unknown reason I got into a really bad habbit when shooting on the money ball awhile back. Right before I'd pull the trigger I'd say to myself "I'm going to miss it" and even if it was a lock, my subconscience would find a way for me to miss it.

I can say in some instances I started tapping my finger as a way to take my brain off saying those words.. Kind of worked in a pinch to get me through the night until I could cure myself of that bad habbit.
