TX state open...opinions wanted.

I'm pretty sure the location is not up for debate. G-Cue owns/runs the Texas Open so if you want to move it, you have to plan an entirely different tournament, but G-Cue will continue to have theirs like they have for the past 35 years. People have tried to do a Texas STATE Open as a separate tournament in the past but it's never taken off, G-Cue's is always the biggest one and main "Texas" tournament.

I'm all for more big tournaments with good added money in Texas so I hope you are able to get something else big going at a larger location.

That's the premise of this thread. If G Cue doesn't want to let go of it, then I want to get a real TX state open going as I am just not satisfied with the one we have now.

I am with you there, but I can't think of anything better yet.

I think the least they can do is to ban smoking during the Open or discourage people from smoking inside. They did make an announcement the night before the tournament, but that was it. Everyone realized it was hot in there but only a few actually went outside to smoke.

If they don't do anything about the smoking, there won't be any more play by play updates from me for sure.

Last year while doing the report, I had two guys sitting side by side blowing smoke in my face. I turned & looked at Ray (Bigtruck)who was also doing the play by play, for help, he gave me that look like "I am sorry, but I can't help you there"

Another idea to make it better is not to have the men's & women's event on the same weekend. That way the event can finish a lot earlier.
