Eric

The masters team I'm on won and got to go to vegas recently and when we came back we started preparing to play the qualifier for Florida. Three of us played at one location while the last member went to another city so hopefully we all could qualify. I went undefeated to qualify, another team mate went undefeated and qualified, third team mate at same location got to finals and was down 8-3 and came back 7 in a row to be up 10-8 then ended up losing. The last team mate also went undefeated in SC.

TL;DR - 3 out of 4 on my masters team went undefeated to qualify and will be in Florida. ++

First time I've ever played in it, but it'll be fun. Kinda like vegas.. even if u lose it's still fun in Vegas. I haven't been to Florida in a couple of years so if I get knocked out early I'll still get to enjoy Florida again!

GL to everyone that goes.

Also: any tips on endurance for tournaments? I always seem to lose it by my 3rd or 4th match.

Do not, under any circumstance, eat a large meal between matches. You'll want to nap within a couple of hours. Small snacks and lots of water.

Eric, congrats bro! Even though you are a meanie

:embarrassed2:I played at Mr Cues II in Atlanta. Kind of a different path than what most are mentioning. Wasn't too brutal for me at all until the finals. Won first 3 matches without anyone getting to 4 and all 3 guys I played were both good players and classy guys so I enjoyed playing with them. In the Final is where it got tricky.

One of my best friends had lost early to a very strong player named Aaron who made a good run at the national event last year. After winning 3 more matches day 1, he beat 3 more players on day 2 to get back to the final (including very strong players Richard Kapela who made it last year and Wei Pang who had made it through like 10 years in a row). So we match up in the finals and he just looks like he is nearly out of juice. I win the first 4 games and that pretty much emptied the tank. Definitely a sour win for me as I know how hard he worked to get there and just wish we could have both been playing our best or been in seperate brackets so we could both go.

For those curious, the other qualifiers from ATL that I could remember were some guy named Jeff who played in golf shoes(very good shot), Jefferson Taylor, Rick Santoro(i think this was his name) Aaron Frady, Harry Perrine, me and the woman's spot was Dana Aft.

Hopefully I am not crossing any lines by posting names here...but they will eventually be listed on the US Am website anyway.

I was the guy in golf shoes. Quite a few people got caught not being prepared for the dress code. I have played in tennis shoes a couple years in the qualifiers without anything being said. This year they really enforced the no tennis shoes, which i don't have a problem with. It did cause a dozen or so folks to have to run out and try to find shoes that met the dress code and that is how I ended up in golf shoes. Woody was joking with me all weekend about them so maybe I will wear them next year too. I will definitely have them on in Tampa, think they brought me good luck.

qualified Austin

I dont know how funny this is but I qualified last weekend with some drama. I was up 6-4 with an easy out (6-8-9 no issues) when this jackass hairball runs me over while I am pulling the trigger on the 6 and missed. I raise up and ask him WTF and he bowes up on me like it is my fault. I asked him how the hell he didnt see me (I am 6'5" 240, hard to miss) and he proceeds to tell me that I have been running around the table all night w/out looking out for him. After cooling down it actually focussed me. Anyway I pull mine out 11-7 while he is down to a buddy of mine hill -7. He works his way back to hill - hill and scratches on the flippin 8. My buddy goes to shake his hand and he says "you have to shoot them out" Tourney director confirms APA rules. Game over. HOW DID THAT KARMA TASTE JACKASS?

Aaron is Aaron Frady from ATL via North Carolina. He put me out. What a strong player. He missed 1 ball in 8 games. I think I improved a ball just watching him run out on me.

Jeff is ******* from Augusta. Golf shoe guy has qualified every time he's tried (Twice in golf shoes). He's the guy that put Aaron on the 1 loss side. Actually, he beat Aaron 7-0. Aaron got horrible rolls toward the end of every rack that he had a chance to run. As good as Aaron is, I have to give the advantage to Jeff.

I'm glad to hear that Harry fought back from the one loss side. He's solid people.

Congratulations on your win and good luck in Florida.

Edited out Golf Shoe Guy's name since he posts here. How's it going? Glad to hear you made it again.
