I just returned from the Bar Table Championships and I had a great time. The hotel is very reasonably priced at $59.00/night double occupancy. The food and drinks were also reasonable with good food selections. The hotel is very clean and security very visible and I didn't see any problems. The tournament area was very large with good table spacing and lighting. The tournament did not use coins in the pool tables. You could practice any time the tables were not being used for matches. The Live Streaming area had bleachers with good visibility of the match(s.) For the first time ever the tournament board was on line. You could access the charts via television monitors and key boards and, this is really cool, you could log into the 2014 Bar Table Championships and access the charts via your smart phone. The staff kept the charts updated in real time as the matches were played. For an old geezer like me, being able to go back to my room and rest and then know exactly when my next match was scheduled really helped me in maintaining my physicality. That showed up in my cashing in One Pocket and Eight Ball. For the first time the One Pocket Championships were played along side the Bar Table Events. There was a little confusion about when your matches on either event would be played but all in all the staff kept the events flowing seamlessly. In fact the staff at the event were great. Seriously they were attentive to their jobs and treated the players well. My hat is off to Mark Griffin for running a great event.

I hope Mark decides to keep the One Pocket Championship in Reno next year. I would recommend that they set aside at least two 9 ft. tables with bleachers so that feature matches could be easily watched. I would also recommend that feature One Pocket matches be Streamed so that the On Line Public could watch some really great match ups. Lastly I would recommend that the tournament area be kept open all night for matching up and practice. I was able to watch many young guns playing excellent pool who will be the stars of future.

By the way, I finished 13/17 in One Pocket and 9/12 in Eight Ball so I am OK with that finish for an old guy on Social Security.
