U.S Open 1 Pocket /BCA Thread

I heard through a friend of mine that the One Pocket even drew roughly 50 players, among them: Cliff Joyner, Scott Frost, Shawn Putnam, Glenn "Piggy Banks" Rodgers. Other than that, I wasn't able to find any info out. If anyone reading this knows anything, please share! Thanks!

I have spoken with Mark Griffin several times this past week. Things are going well, the single events are over and the team starts on Saturday.

I don't know who took 1st in the womens event but Jacqui Herrera-Schroeder from IL took 2nd, Congratulations Jacqui. Her husband Shannon Schroeder took (I think) 13th in the open.

You can still get a team in at the event . YOU all have to have played on the same league and team during the May BCA, but they are letting you sign up at the door. You must bring proof of your league and sessions with you.

Mark is adding $4,000 to the Open and $1,500 to the womens team and maybe more.

Last 3 in 1pocket. Shawn Putnam is playing Piggy for 3rd. Shawn is up 2-0. Nick Vita is waiting to play the winner. Its going to be a long night.

He is from Tennessee. He has been around for a while but his game has taken a jump forward. He beat a number of top level one pocket players along the way for the title.

There were 56 players @ $175 ($200 late signup), $7200 added. So the prize fund was minimum $17,000.

Notable players: Cliff Joyner, Scott Frost, Shawn Putnam, Howard Vickery, Dee Adkins, Jonathan Pinnegar (Hennessee), Mark Jarvis, Piggybanks, Chris Bartrum, John Brumback, and GulfportDoc.;) Buddy Hall was signed up, but a sudden illness prevented his attendance.

It became obvious from about the second round on, that Nick Vita was the one to beat. He put Cliff Joyner into the loser's bracket (4-2 I believe), then later beat Putnam in the finals. This kid could have a bright future.

I don't know why AZ hasn't posted the results of this prestigious event. Hopefully the full 16 prize winners will be posted on the Play BCA website: http://www.playbca.com/ Mark Griffin and his staff did a fabulous job of putting on a first class event.
