I would guess that it probably has something to do with the Women's World 10-ball Tournament that runs from Oct 24th - Nov 1st in Manila. The U. S. Open 9 ball ends on Oct 23rd. If they were to last deep into the Open it wouldn't give them much time to get to Manila.
