UK champs has started and has already logged some high caliber matches. ding reversed last years final and knocked out allen.

i usually put an outright bet down for this event but since there's been so much pool i haven't kept up to date with the snooker

odds:


anda, murphy/vafei and lisowski looks good value to me. shortened races might bring some upsets

trump is looking the best, winning 6-1, 6-0..
 
chinese joe looking very good, beating higgins 6-3. he already knocked out robertson

ronnie was in a tussle against milkins but won hill-hill, after milkins had 3 chances to win that match. apparently milkins had never got more than 2 frames against ronnie before. they're the same age.
 
when was the last time half of the quarterfinalists were non-british? very impressive performance by the iranian and the two younger chinese players. ding junhui doesn't look as strong as these guys but of course experience may play a bigger part from here on. trump is still favorite but it's an interesting lineup
 
vafei, playing like he has been playing, is favorite over ronnie if ronnie keeps playing the standard he has this far. zhang anda played brilliant but lost anyway to vafei. a trump - vafei final is likely, and would be cool too
 
Mark Selby not looking great today with 4-0 against Judd at the interval. Perhaps a come back is feasible if he finds something.
Willo has always been a sneaky player so don't count him out yet!

experience and/or fear is showing, ronnie leading 2-1. i still think form will triumph, after the midsession i expect vafei to take off
 
i was surprised at that outcome, but then again i was surprised last year too. ding isn't a top top player anymore, at least not for most of the season. come UK championship and he's right up there. when you think about it, it makes sense: home crowd, he can sleep in his own house, eat with his family.. normal daily life routine.

those are some intangibles that odds makers don't often take into account!

nice one, i hope he wins. i think a win would mean he'll be back in top 16 and a seeded player.
 
ronnie finishes the final with a 136 break. he is incredible. ding played well, didn't wilt, but ronnie outmoved him.
