White had led 3-1 and was amongst the balls with a chance to seal it, but a break of 96 sparked Lilley's charge and earned him his place in the final after a dramatic comeback. However the Englishman was well beaten by Peter Lines in the final, who advanced beyond Ken Doherty earlier on the final day of action in Hull and took the title with a 4-1 win. :​
