well i sat down to clean my cues and thought i had some.i'm in the middle of doing this and all i have is nail polish remover.

I would not let nail polish remover (acetone) near my cues. It melts plastics like magic and will most certainly not do ferrules or the epoxy that holds your joint together any good at all. Get the alcohol.

Ferrules and construction epoxy aside, it would probably eat through or ruin most finishes if you were to get it on the finish.
