Universal smart shaft insert question.

I have two question. First how the heck do you get the insert out of the smart shaft. Mine is in there tight, any secrets. Next, I have a Mike Stacey cue, what size pin does he use, it has a southwest look but I think it is a different count. I want to buy a smart shaft insert for my Stacey cue, but do not know if they make one, yet!

My friend has a universal smart shaft as well. When he needs to change it, he has a separate piece that he uses to unscrew it from the shaft.

I have used a piece of leather before and that seemed to work pretty good, gives you a lil better grip.

He uses

It is usually a 3/8-11, same as SW

Use one of the ends of the tube the smart shaft came in. The rubber fits over the adapter and allows you to get a decent grip. Some adapters mate with the shaft too tightly and you will not be able to remove them. I had to return the first one I had because the adapter could not be removed with pliers!

i believe the insert is reverse threaded also so you may be turning it the wrong direction..

i use the rubber stopper from the end of the plastic tube that the smartshaft came in to grip the adapter to unscrew it. it works well and i really tighten mine.

I got the shaft used and don't have the original tube.

i have some rubber hooks that i hang my shafts from .. you can use those to wrap around the adaptor and then get a good big pair of plastic tipped pliers ... works for me...

use some big pliers. If you aren't going to use that insert anymore, then no problem. If you are going to use it for another cue, then you may have some asthetic problems, but that would be it.
