Unknown cue identification? Any help appreciated.

I mentioned Huebler because it had some Hubleresque elements. However, the cue is very generic. Keep in mind when you look at a cue, and you start to use shafts, bumpers, butt caps, weight bolts etc as benchmarks... you are making an assumption that they are original. All those parts, even the joint screw, are easily changeable by any cuemaker. My Gus for 30 years had a Bushka brown bumper. Why? Because my uncle asked Gus if he had one and he did, and he put it in. He wasn't insulted my uncle asked for that bumper, he was more than happy to do it.

Over the lifetime of a cue, it may incur many changes and mods... It is one of the reasons we don't ID from pics if we can help it, at least not on the big boy cues.

Is that a brass insert I see in the shaft?? Also look at the tight grain in the butt at the joint. Somebody picked a damn nice old growth chunk for that one. I'll buy it if it's for sale.
I was thinking Heubler as well, until I saw that brass. Now I'm scratching whatever else I got that's itchin'.
Definitely for sale. Just hard to put a number not knowing.

Best answer so far from a meucci expert was that it's an mo5 with a new buttcap installed. So, dunno but that's where I'm at at moment. Thanks everyone.

That's an interesting notion. I am far from a Meucci expert. I know more about the earliest series when he was with Huebler.

What about that wrap? Is that Cortland?

I’m far from a Meucci expert, but I’ve owned three (all between ‘88-‘92) and still own one. There isn’t much about this cue that would make me consider Meucci as the maker. Different butt cap and bumper, uncoated wrap, steel sleeve (unusual, but not unheard of), standard length ferrule, insert looks different from mine. There would be a lot of explaining to do.

Looks close to a MO5 but the telling tale is the bumper. this should have a pill bumper and the weight bolt on my MO5 has a 5/8 head
with a flat slot for a large screw driver. The depth of the hole for the bumper is 3/4", not a MO5 in my eye's.

I feel like a Meucci would have better point and veneer work. Of course, any cue can be reworked extensively. I don't know Meucci point and veneer work well enough to say. I just feel like a successful maker would typically do better.

I have heard of "seconds" being made into cues though. How? By who? What circumstances? I don't know.

I will post later tonight or tomorrow morning my MO5 points, I think it will back up your thoughts.
