Up for TRADE JOSSWEST Sideways

josswest

iI love the colors that's what i want is it cracked above the missing veneeres as well? Didn't it have 2 shafts?

Josswest

I noticed that crack between the points when I saw it listed on Ebay last week.
This makes me wonder if the slop of glue/putty was put there to fill in an area where the veneers may have broken out?
Without that crack, the deal was a no brainer.
I am assuming you received some rough estimates based on pictures, or did you send the cue to the repair facilities, to have the repairs estimated?
Do you own another JW, I only ask because I am wondering why you wouldn't offer it with the second shaft as shown in the Ebay listing for this cue?

The crack that Ive shown is a surface crack and can be sanded out.
Ive sent pictures and have taken the cue to a friend of mine who is a custom cue maker for the quote.

I did previously own another sideways JW which I have sold on AZ, its in my old posts..I missed it very much and regretted selling it.

The second shaft for this cue was in horrible condition and was indeed warped, so therefore i just let my buddy keep it. However if someone was to offer the right trade im sure I can get my friend to give me back the warped shaft.

This cue was pulled off ebay as I had worked out a deal with the original owner (my friend with the warped shaft )

Josswest

Thanks,
I was thinking that even if the shaft was bad, it would sure help someone out, to be able to salvage the joint collar off the other shaft, instead of having to make a new one.

I want to be real honest with everyone, the cue plays great. Nothing vibrates or feels loose of any kind when striking the cue ball.
However after talking to a friend of mine, he was explaining to me that after fixing this cue by anyone other than Mr. Stroud it would not be a josswest. It is highly improbable to get Mr Stroud to fix this cue in an affordable timely manner.

This being said, if you leave the cue the way it is, its a great banger for daily play with that nice old Josswest hit. OR consider it a Trophy cue.

Ive received lots of offers and i just want to be totally clear with everyone with what I have learned recently.

If you have any further questions feel free to PM me
thank you

Repair option

What is your asking price for the cue as is ?

I have an early josswest cue similar to yours that had a hairline crack in the buttcap. I contacted Bill Stroud by email and he agreed to replace the buttcap for me for 100.00. He said it would take 10 days and it ended up being 9 mos. Of course, he is the only one on the planet I would trust to have replaced the butt cap and put the sideways JW back on. All said and done He did the quality job you would expect from one of the best cuemakers in the world. I had my cap replaced just last year and he was in New Mexico at the time. I dont know if he is still working on cues but if you ask him nicely he might accomodate your request. Just a suggestion.

Scott.

edit*************** i was going to say about how i believe Bill sold all his equipment and is now retired.. but i dont know for sure and cannot prove it.. but if anybody knows for sure.. post it..

Im not 100% sure about this but I do believe this to be true

I bought this cue with those intentions, to get it to Mr. Stroud and have it fixed, but it looks like mission Impossible now.

Which is why I would like all buyers to know this, and if they do decide to
Buy or trade for this cue, it would be best to leave it as is, as it Still plays pretty Dam good OR have it as a Trophy Cue.

Thanks for all the interests
