Hello everyone, I jus got back from the Bicycle Casino, and a great UPA tournament. Mika Immonen defeated Charlie Williams in the final match 13 to 2. Mika was awsome he broke and ran out with ease and when he got in trouble he came up with unbelievable shots.

At one point in the match when C. Williams got a chance at the table he remarked that it must be Mika's destiny. In the end C. Williams was gracious in defeat and thanked the large LA crowd for their pool knowledge and enthusiasm. He also said it was the best UPA event put on to date and promised to return either later this year or early next year.

All in all I had a great time watching my favorite players in person rather than on tape. The difference that I noticed between players that are roughly the same speed, came down to the break, and safty play.

Reyes was awsome yesterday, beating Ernesto Dominguiez and Alex Pagulayan. He routinly pocketed a ball or two on the break and would run out, he made it look so easy. Charlie Williams did the same today running rack after rack against Reyes and then Souquet (to determine who would play Mika).

In the first game against Mika, Charlie got out of line on the 8 and ended losing the game. about twenty minutes later he was down 7 to 1, Mika warmed up and never looked back.

Some local players I was impressed with were Oscar Dominguez, Ernesto Dominguez, Cory Harper, and Neil Fujiwara. Danny Harriman, Ronnie Wiseman and Marcus Chamat at times looked just as good as Reyes and Mika. Anyway have to go now, thought you might like the update.
