UPA not sanctioning US Open

Just for the record, Ray Martin's time may have passed and his chances of winning a professional 9-ball event are probably out of sight. However, I believe that Buddy Hall is a threat to win a nine ball event no matter how great the field is. He recently finished second in the Derby City 9-Ball overcoming a very large field, tough Diamond tables and short races to 7. Buddy may be getting up there, but don't think that he can't play with the young guns.

My Disclaimer:

I am not trying in any way to discredit Ray Martin. I don't know him personally, but I have never heard anybody mutter anything bad about him. Hell, I may even fly down and take some 14.1 lessons from him.

Ray finished 5th at Grady's senior event and got in the money on the 1st FL Tour event this year.

I doubt he would go to the US Open no matter who was putting it on. When I talked to him on the phone last week he said that he isn't going to be traveling much this year. But I hope to see him play the 2nd FL Tour stop in Melbourne, FL (he didn't know then if he would or wouldn't make it).

Ray is a player that will surprise you very quick and looks ten years younger than he did 2 years ago. Never count Ray out, he seems to make it in the cash 9 out of 10 trys even at his present age.

(If you like 14.1, Ray would be about the best coach a man could have. He's forgotten more about pocket billiards than I will ever know)

Good Luck
