What kind of equipment do you need to record, edit, and upload videos?

Is there a specific type of video camera?
Software?
Anything I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!

I use a digital video camera with USB output and use Windows Movie Maker (built into Windows XP) to capture the video on the PC from the camera. I can also edit the video and normally it is save in either AVI or WMV format. Then upload it to somewhere like youtube after creating an account.

You can use a webcam also and use Windows Movie Maker as well, it can edit almost any form of video. However, some webcams do not have a good frame rate and will leave you with choppy video. May want to just use a camcorder with USB output, gives smooth quality and a better quality anyway.

Well it all depends on various things.

If you want the best results with all the bells and whistles:

Get Adobe Premier Pro 2.0, it will capture any type of video from any raw format (so long as u know what ur doing)

and

Get Cleaner 5 (or higher) to get any type of output and protocol. ie: wmv via http or mms, mov, mpg, avi, and so forth. Oh yeah, it allows u to reduce file sizes with gr8 video results. Definitely helps in web based management scenarios.

I have these two programs and worked on Video Encoding for some odd years and both are gr8 together in giving u more options and producing gr8 results. Bad side, you really at least need to know the basics of video encoding.

Movie Maker works well for novice projects, not only that.... it's free! You may not have all the bells and whistles, but will get the basics done.
Problem is, Big file sizes, and if ur planniing to stream it from a web server, watch for ur hosting bills to go WAY up.

Hope that helps.
