upside down glasses are great - buy a cheap pair of ROUND frames, have your current prescription made for them, and have the lenses switched from left to right, right to left, then have the bows heated and bent accordingly. METAL frames work the best. youy will see beyond the furthest point of any ball or rail. jerry bessett {mpls.mn.}

I broke my nose and now my glasses sit half an inch higher up on my face.

Now I have no problems, I'd recommend it to anyone :)

I suppose having someone break my nose would be cheaper and less time consuming than the alternatives. Depending on the circumstances, ie a bar fight it might be more interesting as well.

I believe that Sammy Gibson used to make/sell great big lensed upside down glasses, that kept the frame out of your line of sight. They may have tilted also (I don't wear glasses, so I don't remember). He also used to play in all the Florida Pro tournaments. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen him or any of his glasses for a couple of years, now. Does anyone know what became of Sam Gibson and his 'pool glasses' ? I know that Hal Houle (rhymes with pool) bought a pair and they may now be highly sought 'collectible glasses'....

When I was in Germany playing for a few years, I noticed many frameless lenses on the top along with bigger lenses. The lenses were "taller" and had no frame on the top! Worked well for them!

I've been trying to get ahold of Sam Gibson to order a pair of those glasses for about a yr. He had several styles but the ones I wanted looked like big oversized frames that had been turned upside down. What they did was remove any sight of the frames while down on a shot. They were above the eyebrow and the bottoms seemed to be below the eye socket and extended beyond your peripheral vision. I did not want those that could be tilted. I wear tri-focals and shoot without my glasses. My Dr. will give a scrip for glasses that will give the best he can do for 12'. If anyone out there knows of Sam or anyone else who can provide that type of frame please e-mail me. Thanks.

upside down glasses - EXPLAINED

gentlemen - upside down glasses are the NUTS. explanation, when you take a normal pair of glasses and set them upon a flat surface you will notice that there is a larger seeing surface below the BOWS than above, then notice that the BRIDGE of the FRAME is normally round. instead of you nose fitting up into the bridge of the frame - by turning upside down - your Nose will now be resting underneath the inverted curvature of the bridge, lifting the largest part of the lense. if you have a very strong prescription the other glasses require a large blank for your frame, resulting in heavy COKE bottle glasses that are heavy and uncomfortable. try this you will not be dissapointed. JMB ps, the lenses have to be switched from left to right, because you are going to be seeing out the right side of the frame with your left eye and visa versa with your right eye. THE nuts for glass wearers.
