Entrants include 9 of the top 11 players in the world by Fargo Rating as well as more than half of the world top 100.

Tony Drago is from Malta I think, I would love to see him play Earl 9 ball with 10-second clock shot.

Should be a very competitive US Open this year. Will be interesting to see if Shane can defend his title one more time.

Will also be interesting to see how much credit he will get for doing so given the level of competition this year.

Will also be interesting to see the performances in comparison to the Fargo rating lines. I did use it briefly the other day and estimated the lines on some of my past matches and it seems generally correct in a lot of them.

Interesting stats Mike. Out of curiosity, how did that compare to the World championships this year. Its safe to say this will be the toughest US Open to win in its 40 year history and I'm guessing its somewhat close in skill level to the World Championships this year.

Great stuff.
Interesting takeaway

Average of 97 =743
Top 64 =773
Top 32 =789
Top 16 =798

Europe 752
Phil and Taiwan 789-790 (little to separate them)
USA 720

Probably strongest US Open ever
Definitely much stronger than past few years
And this can only be good for fans :)

More than most people to be perfectly honest. If SVB wins there will be more attention on it and posts about it than there will be if any other single player in the field wins.

If Dennis O wins it there will be a brief "WTG Orcullo, US Open Champ!" thread and people will post briefly and it will be gone in a week. Same with most players in the field.

If Big Ko wins there will be more discussion, and it will be a whole bunch of back and forth about who is "really" still better.

If SVB wins? We will have a 15+ page thread discussing why SVB is without a shadow of a doubt the best player the pool world has ever seen.

No matter who takes this title this year, they deserve a lot of credit because this is by far the strongest field the US Open has ever seen, no other US Open field has ever been even close to this deep in talent.
