US Open, who can play?

I was looking over the brackets and noticed a friend of mine. Not a close friend that I see a lot, none the less a friend. Given a match between this friend and I, I would have to give him the edge, but not enough edge to make him a US Open contender.

Yes the name is US 'Open'. However I always thought there was some kind of qualifications required?

Rich, I don't know if you're kidding or not but $500 is the (ONLY) requirement.
I'm not kidding at all.

This has been discussed a number of times, on several forums.
A number of years ago, Barry Behrman and the WPBA made some sort of an agreement. I don't know if money changed hands or not, but the WPBA holds their own U.S. Open for the ladies and Barry does not allow the ladies to play in his event.
