US Pool Will Continue to Suffer...

Interesting thread, in 'House' (a private home) league and tourneys.

When I ran my league back in the mid 90's I tried to get home owners to support an in home, traveling league. Everyone was all for this when we had our first and very quickly the last meeting. What caused that league not to form was the question I brought up, "Of the home owners here, would you have a problem with total strangers in your home?" Everyone actually looked around and shook there heads no in conformation, meeting adjourned.
It's one thing to meet in a public arena where insurance covers mishaps and problems, it's a real nightmare for homeowners, in this type of situation, explaining to there homeowners insurance.
Everyone knew I ran a taught ship but even I could not control argumentative and unruly players. The only thing in my power was to remove the team for one bad apple... even if it was a "Kennedy".

Oh absolutely. Most parties or leagues were not much different form canasta, or pinochle or bridge. But usually they were neighbors. The office worker would be added then a friend of a friend. Same events were held by women also. Then the famous marriage swap parties that still go on but not covered in local news. I belonged to a Euchre League. A game similar to pinochle but much faster and better for gambling. All personalities are not equal so exits and new entries were common.

Wow slow down will ya :-) House pool parties have been going on long long before streaming. I do not know a person that would allow a stream out from his property. ya need equipment and advertisers to stream on a grand scale. Not to mention an IT to pull it off. Most handicapping would come from leagues that compile such factual info and can rate a player. Like a Country Club keeping scores of players achievements every round to enable handicapping their tournaments. In 9 ball for example a lower handicap player may take 2 balls off the table after the break. As for streaming dates and times go to AZB srtreaming forum for such info. Some are free some cheap, some expensive. The Sport is just into the beginning of this so it can be shaky at times. Some streamers have excellent quality picture, some not so but still vieweable.

Am all that's needed to stream is a camcorder and ustream account, YouTube also allows it but I've never tried or looked into it.

Let's cover the basics:
1) You say that there are pool (Billiard) leagues that a run from someone house (place of residence)
2) someone said that they stream it also (on my tablet couldn't look)
3) is this just amount a few friends or how does this work if I understand properly cause it seems like a ring game of king of the hill amoung friends, or should I go back and read this thread over.

Friends and friends of friends usually. One wouldn't want an unsavory one in one's home for example. Call it what you want. Gang, league, crew, bunch, group, bunch, gaggle, Obviously one that held such an event required a pool table and not in ones' bedroom or living room. Usually a basement attic garage etc.

Remember this thread is for idea's as to why pool rooms and pool in general have lost much ground. This is just one of them. Many are playing home now. At today's play rates up to $12 per hour more or less folks are buying own equipment. One can have a fine table and set of equipment for <$2K;s. If ya play twice a week that's $25 bucks. Ya could pay off a set in a year.
