US Tennis Open

I got a email to attend the US Tennis Open that was for the bargain rate of $4575 for 2 nights lodging and tickets with tranfers from the hotel. Nothing else.

I looked on line and seen some prices for days near the finals ranging from $150 to $7800 just for the ticket.

I am not a tennis fan and don't know why I received that, but it got me thinking about pool tournaments and why pool isn't in the olympics. NO INTEREST Or SUPPORT from the public or players.

How many pool players would pay that kind of money to attend a event? Look at the pathetic attendance at pool tournaments.

The Tennis US open is live streamed for free by the US Open and also shown on ESPN2. What streaming is done for pool? If there is any it is done by a third party doing a paid per view with very few paying customers.

Why is it that in high school tennis, golf and even bowling are part of the sports program where there is league competition and state championships. Players can also get college scholarships if good enough.

Gymnists, runners, kayaking, biking, diving, and etc get big time sponsors and make millions. Why?

If you look at the big picture pool doesn't qualify for anything except a way to get customers into a bar during league night.

If you look at all the training and lessons that is involved in the other sports and then look at pool, how many players take weekly lessons and do any type of organized training? If you take a poll most players have never paid for a lesson or if they have it was for a few hours compared to the hundreds if not thousands that the top players in other sports have done, not including all of the other training, and practice. Most pool players want lesson for free or are looking for that magic feather that doesn't exist instead of paying the dues thru hard work, effort and training.

Then we wonder why pool doesn't get any respect.

when pool was actually popular, it wasn't in the Olympics.

why bother raise the question now? (and again, since there were multiple Olympics threads on here)
