Hello all,
This is my girlfriends Mezz EC-7 that she's been using for the past few years. The butt of the cue has a linen wrap and has the requisite dings in it for a used cue. The butt has no weight bolt in it and weighs 14.3 oz. Mezz United pin. The original shaft is 4 ounces. The carbon fiber shaft is also 4 ounces.
Ok, now, here's the interesting part of this deal. As some of you may know I am a former cue maker.......Black Boar. I have always been concerned with one thing.....playability of the shaft. When Carbon Fiber shafts came out I hated them with a passion because I couldn't "feel" the cue ball and they sounded like I was hitting with a steel pipe. So, about two years ago I set about building a better mouse-trap. After an absolute TON of research and work and prototyping I ended up with my current shaft. And, I am also building carbon fiber HYBRID shafts that are part CF and part wood. What I think I've been able to do is create a Low Deflection CF shaft that has the hit of wood, the feel of wood and pretty much the sound of wood. After roughly 9 prototypes I came up with something that in my humble opinion plays fantastically. Low deflection. The weight I want. The taper length I want. Great sound. Outstanding feel and feedback. The shaft you see in the photos is the one my girlfriend has been playing with for about a year.
Very soon I'll be offering my shafts for sale most likely through Ebay since a buddy of mine has an account and all the ability in the world to handle the transactions. I will eventually be building every shaft 100% to a person's individual preferences but to get things rolling I'm going to be making what I think are pretty much standards of the industry......3/8-10 versions, 3/8-14 (since I and my girl both play with a CueTec), 5/16-14, 5/16-18, Uni-Loc etc. I've had a ton of players hit with my shaft and everyone has been astounded by how good it does play. The only negative from one gent was that he couldn't get used to the two tones. Everyone else really enjoyed the unique look of it, but to each their own, right? If you want the wood portion stained black I have no problem doing that if the two-tone bothers you.
The cue plus the two shafts is a package deal along with a cheapy Amazon case. I will clean up the original shaft, get rid of as many dings as possible out of the butt but I'm not going to be restoring it by any stretch of the imagination. The original cue was some $480 a bunch of years ago and my shafts will sell in the 300 to 500 range. They're assuredly not the run of the mill carbon fiber tube sourced from China and filled with Home Depot foam. There really is a lot of work that goes into building one of these; I sweat every detail - and I'll be happy to chat with you about that process and the challenges I encountered if you send me a message.
So how about $500.00 payable through PayPal or Venmo for the whole shebang? Essentially you're getting a 100% customized CF Low Deflection shaft for free and I'll cover the shipping.
Thanks for looking.
Vince.
