That's buckhorn on the butt and phenolic on the shaft with UniLoc quick release pin ( no longer done by Zylr ).

Chris, I think this is uni-loc joint. He did make with uni-locs before.

Yes indeed, it's a Uni-Loc Quick-Release joint. I've seen this cue up close (Craig's a good friend of mine down here in So. Cal.) and it plays just as sweet and solid as you'd expect from a Zyler, if you've ever had the chance to hit with one.

It's also worth noting if you've never seen a Zyler up close that he does not use a high-gloss finish on his cues, especially his Sneaky Petes (Or at least none I've ever seen.) so if you are looking for something glossy and shiny it might not be the cue for you. Kerry's cues are all about function over form.

I made me a sneaky with just hand applied oil finish mix.
I like em. The finish doesn't crack. :)
The bocote points have no risen at all.
I even put in on the shaft.
It's player and I love it. No ferrule even. Just a hard backer and Kamui tip.

The Zylr above is for someone who'd take it to wars.
Stiff-hitting players' delight cue.
I don't see many Zylr sneakies in the secondary market at all.
Not even locally.

I used to have one of Zylr sneaky. Kerry told me he put french polish as the finish on the sneaky pete.

In person, I love the look and feel of non-glossy french polish finish cue.

I bought 2 cues from him when he was still at Best Billiards ($600 each). He was offering the Uni-Lock joints then if you wanted them. Both of mine were built with Radial pins, I didn't even see a 3/8 x 11 in his whole shop that I remember.

Craig - You shouldn't have any problem selling that one.

The reason you don't see many for sale is that most of his cues go to Japan and Kerry does make a fine hitting cue.

Agreed, I just picked up one of his SP's and love the stiff hit. These play every bit as good as his customs and personally, I love the French polish finish he uses on the SP's - also, I have never seen a piece of wood on a SP that was as beautiful. If you have questions you can always ask Kerry - I did before buying mine, and it made the decision easy.

D'oh! No it's not a Quick-Release on that particular Zyler! Craig should be getting a close-up photo of the joint shortly, I'm thinking it is a piloted 5/16th if it's not QR.

Zylr Cues

I currently have a zylr and have done alot of research on his cues. His sneaky petes don't have a high gloss finish, but I've seen many of his other cues with a high gloss finish. He has done a couple of different pin sizes, but most of the time it's the 3/8x11. I'm sure his uniloc hit amazing too though.
