I bought an item from someone on eBay to see this about the seller after sending payment.

I cancelled payment (thank goodness I sent a personal check).

Since the seller is obviously not in good standing with eBay at this point should I feel obligated to pay the listing fee?

Thanks for any input with regards to this matter.

Hi, Mike, in my experience with eBay the buyer is not responsible for any fees. The seller is charged a fee for listing the item for sale and if the item sells the seller is also charged a final value fee which is a percentage of the final selling price. If PayPal was used to pay for the item PayPal takes a percentage of the total payment to the seller. I've seen them take a percentage whether the payment was from a credit card or from a bank account. The latter was a surprise to me. Hope this helps, Cory.

Any "fees" that you would pay are in the selling amount...ebay gets all their fees from the seller. The situation that you have here is not all that uncommon. If a credit card on file lapses or other similar event occurs, ebay will suspend the seller's account and priviledges until the information is made current. It could be as simple as that.

Correct! The buyer pays no fees to ebay for a winning bid. The buyer usaully pays shipping costs. The seller pays a listing insertion fee, and a final value fee from the sale of an item.
Hope this info. helps.
