Hey guys i was was looking at some Longoni cues and i was thinking of purchasing one but it is only made for carom billiards can i use this for pool or will i have to change the ferrule/tip or even get a new shaft. I never heard of anyone using one for a pool so i am curious to know about playability and the reliability..THANKS GUYS!!

I do because I don't have a pool cue, it feels well, it plays very well

but its just not long enough, for me
the European taper also rides up along the rail when you shoot with it there

soon as I can afford it I will buy a pool cue

during that time ill have to use my carom cues

I only play straight pool anyways, other than that, carom is my world!

Yes you can, but for me it depends on the shaft taper. If it's too drastic of a taper it doesn't feel right in my bridge hand as I have a longer bridge for pool. But if the taper is more gradual then the only thing to consider is that the cue would be shorter than the 58"+ pool cue would be. Billiard cues are typically 55" - 56.5" in length.

But as far as playability, you might like it better as it probably would not deflect as much as some pool cues. Deano had pool cues made that used a billiard type taper but were 58" in length. They played good if you could get used to them.

I hear yah i have been searching for something different since i don't like the mcdermotts,viking,meuccis..I found these Hanbat cues made in Korea LD shaft for under 300 check it out if your looking for a cue down the road they have some for under 150 as well and solid quality real inlays too. Im confused though because they are under carom but they have normal ferrule/tip and radial pin...

Thanks !! I played with a custom carom and it was very stiff and ld which i liked. I heard only good things about the Hanbat cues if any of you have any experience with them that would be greatly appreciated..

Hey, I play with a 9mm Snooker shaft (full length, though)...
Carom cues are very LD and they also can take a punch. The only problem might be the shorter lenght in total - but go try it!
Also if you have a smaller diameter (10+mm) you have an enormous advantage over the 13mm players as far as control and slow playing goes.

Good luck!

Off topic but, you are my new hero.

IMHO - you might want to try One Pocket - you're Carom knowledge would serve you
well in that game.

Longoni is a wonderful cue maker. I've used the carom cues as my player for some time before going back to normal pocket cues. I find the taper to be affecting my stroke when switching between games. I only use my Longoni when I play 3C now, but I wont have much trouble if I have to use it in pocket billiards on a pinch. They are stiffer as they hit a much larger/heavier ball. The 3C game is more sensitive to the spin of the ball in my opinion and thus less forgiving of a poor stroke. This is not to say you couldn't use either in either game setting, but one is more built for their respective games than the other. A strength in one may be a weakness in the other game.

BTW: Longoni has lines for normal pocket billiards. Visit their site or a dealer here for more info.

carom cues are fine

if you're comfortable with the taper of the shaft, it will make not difference and not hinder you at all from one pool game to another

pyschology and placebo effect will play a role here, and a general lack of education regarding.........PHYSICS
