I’m realizing after 60 years of playing this game that I can accomplish a lot using centerball with regards to shot making and position. Has anyone determined how much centerball you use in a match?

Very little. Most shots I hit with a bit of low and vary the speed of the hit vs adjust my tip position.

The equation needs to be done on each shot. Up and down is addition and subtraction. Moving left and right makes speed more critical. Balls do react significantly to rotation at colision. Bar table balls can grip or slip. I look for the angle + elevation +(sped × spin) so keeping the numbers as near to 1 as possible is the goal .

It is a quick test that is available on the coin op tables that leaves the cueball available.
The reason why I find it interesting is because I changed my grip about a year ago because I thought something like this was happening. I was flexing my wrist in towards my body when I was shooting subconsciously....I realized it when I watched a recording of myself. I found a wrist position that is more consistent.
It is really hard to break old habits when you are 55 years old :)

Interesting... I'd say I use pure 'center ball' <5% of the time. There's rarely an instance that it's the most appropriate option.

Even on straight shots I'm slightly above exact center ball. I use a bit of spin on lots of shots, especially high and low.
