Here is a cue I just finished up for a sailor soon to be departing to Japan
(thank you for your service Richard).
The handle is made from a piece of teak salvaged from the deck of the
battle ship USS California BB-44. The California was built around 1919 and
was sunk at Pearl Harbor. After refitting it went on to fight at Okinawa and several other battles. It was scrapped after the war.
The forearm and butt sleeve are from American Black Walnut and the herringbone trim rings are set in ebony. The butt sleeve ring is inscribed with "USS California BB-44".
I still have several pieces of decking left over if anybody is interested in having a cue made or wants to purchase a piece of history.
