Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, so please be patient with my ignorance.
I have a Valley 93 (MFG 1974) that I purchased from a local pub. I understand it's not the best table, but it has nostalgic value to me. My dad was the first and last to every play on this table and this is the table I learned on.
I recently cleaned and restored the table. During this process I found the the wood backing on the rails was falling apart, so I ordered new rails from valley. The original rails were marked as U23 but the rails I received from valley are K66. The original rails were rebuilt several time by a local company and I assume they were swapped around from pub to pub. They were very live during the last few years as is took only a medium speed hit to get a 5 rail bank. With the new rails I have to stroke for a home run to get a simple 3 rail sot.
The rails and cloth are Simonis cloth, the rail height was at 1.43" and Ive tried 1.375", the rails are torqued to 75lbin. I re-installed the old rails and they are much more lively but lack consistency due to the broke backing. I've had a local shop estimate rebuilding the old rails, and they tell me the rubber is shot and that the new K66 rubber is better anyway.
So, what I am looking for is advise on a new set of rails, covered in Simonis cloth that have awesome action and accuracy.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
