Do you mean Big Fred Winker from Maryland? Jason was asked not to play this year by Allen Hopkins.

I don't think it was Winker either, but close to that. My buddy would like it if he won as he elimintated him (my friend) in the 4th round.

Hey Catscradle,

I'm not sure who was in the finals as I had to hit the road, but the final four consisted of Tim Fitzsimmons vs. Fred Wenker, and Dave Daya vs. Chris Loar.
As to the Jason Kirkwood rumors, I spoke with him on Friday and although he was not entered in any of the tournaments, he said that Allen never said anything to him personally, but supposedly after he beat Kevin Clark in the final last year that something was said to someone along those lines.
I personally don't think it would be right to ask the guy not to enter, even though he is a tough player, there are quite a few others that play just as strong as Jason.

Yes it was Fred Wenker. I'm pretty sure that once you win that tourny twice you can"t enter again Pat Mcnally won twice Norm Wines won twice and neither are allowed to enter. I think jason only won once.
