ok.. i know its kinda early to start any threads about Valley forge...

anyways.. in august of 2006, i tried to get reservations for the sbe 2007 show and i couldnt get friday because they were full.. and being we didnt want to run the risk of having to change hotels midstream, we just went to the one around the block.. this year, i wanted to make sure that didnt happen, so i called a few minutes ago and made sure i booked the room with plenty of time left...

anyways, they told me the rates were going to be $136 per night.. wich last year they were 122.. they said they were not confirmed yet so as of right now thats what they are listed at.. when i looked on the superbilliardsexpo.com website , they had last years rates listed and also mentioned the new rates werent confirmed yet...

i have my fingers crossed.. and i am hoping they didnt go up that much even though its not alot.. its just the principle of it.lol.. we usually stay from wednesday...

if anybody knows what the rates are going to be.. please post em up.. anyways.. should be a good time this comming march.. and hopefully it doesnt storm again like this past expo..

I've never been but my wife and I plan on going next March. We just emailed for reservations at the Radisson adjoining the Conv. center.

Maybe someone could post some useful info or tips for first timers to Valley Forge.

Print maps. Make sure you have good, detailed maps of the area, so you can find restaurants, etc., okay.

DON'T drive through a snow or ice storm, unless you're really dedicated! We saw lots of ambulances, fire engines, and police cars rescuing folks from getting stuck and/or having wrecks. The roads were extremely dangerous. I heard that the snow/ice storm during the 2007 Expo was unusual, but always something to watch out for, at that time of year.

We preferred to stay at a hotel up the road, a mile or less from the Expo. It was about half the price and a very easy drive. If you really need to be on location, it might be worth it to pay the price of accomodations. For someone who's just going to enjoy the show, the accomodations up the road are fine. They don't advertise those hotels/motels, even though some are very popular names. You have to go to the hotel websites (or call) to see where the nearest available ones are located.

If you don't already know, there are daily admittance fees to the Expo and other fees to see the different competitions.

Make sure you take extra cash. The ATM machines run out of money fairly early and not everyone accepts plastic or checks. We spent about $1200 (cash and plastic) on our trip for a family of 3. That included 9 days of mid-size car rental, Motel 6, Days Inn, and Knights Inn rooms, gasoline, food, admittance, etc.. No, we didn't buy any pool cues or other expensive items at the show. Many folks probably spent a lot more, but we were on a really tight budget. (It didn't keep us from having a terrific time, though!) Maybe we'll spend more money, next time.

I made my reservations right after the show this year...so I have 5 rooms booked for the 2008 event. I prefer staying onsite since you can check out the activities and walk back to your room without lugging gear all over creation. That's the worst part about being offsite.

Maps are a good suggestion. There are a few pool rooms in the area that I like to visit when I am out there. Drexline Billiards is a premiere room. Really top notch. I also enjoy Rack'em Up in Frazer. Good vibe, plus a 12' snooker table. Not really any action there, though. This year I saw Charlie Williams with Bo and Yu Ram Cha there. This was immediately after the Dragon Promotions press release, so I don't think that they had even played in a U.S. event yet. It was pretty cool.

The ice storm of 2007 was very unusual. In fact, the weather has been around above freezing for nearly all of the last 7-8 years there. Maybe Allen just picks good weekends since that type of thing is unusual in itself for March. One year I did hit some snow while driviing home at the end of the event, but otherwise the weather has been pretty good.
 
Thanks! I'm hoping to get onsite reservations. Still waiting on them to call back. Good information ya'll giving....I'm taking notes. For sure will have to check out that snooker table at Rackem Up.....I love playing the game.
 
Drexeline Billiard Club is a great room and now has a snooker table as well.

Classique Billiards is also 20 Mins from Valley Forge on Rt 23. They had a limo service last year. They have 11 Gold Crowns (2 triple, 3 double, 6 open) Mini tournaments valley forge weekend and action was pretty steady depending on what you were looking for. Sunday action was really hot after everyone left the expo.
 
I live maybe 20 minutes from the Expo, and know EVERYONE in the pool world here! :D
