Valley Forge

I have mentioned in the past that I have not been playing reguarly, but wanted to get some opinions regarding Valley Forge this year. I have been going and playing since around 1996.

In the past, I have tried to compete at VF just to play regardless of how well I think I would do because I enjoy competing. I usually go a few rounds and then lose, although I have lost in the first round a few times as well.

I am a little leary of playing this year because I have not been playing much over the past year or so. I have already purchased the entry fee (it gets me free entry to everything throughout the tournament), but I also don't feel like embarrassing myself.

Ordinarily, I probably wouldn't worry about it and just play. But there was a post last year or the year before by another forum member that talked about the lower class of pool players that play at Valley Forge that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

I should probably see a psychiatrist rather than asking the forum, but what the hell, I thought I would get a few other opinions...

I guess my real question is, how do you feel when playing an inferior player?

I play the table not the player, unless its Jay Helfet then I put him under a spell. Other than him I only play the table, in fencing you play the other player or get stabbed, in pool the other player is sitting down(hopefully minding his mannors)

To a point FB...but if I'm playing a guy 1 pocket who never shoots off the back rail, guess what? He's getting parked there for the duration! Also if your playing someone who fires at everything then I'm leaving him low % shots I know he has to miss eventually, you know?

I hear what you are saying about not playing the player, just the table, but I have learned you NEED to pay attention to what the incoming player can or can't do IMO.

As far as Valley Forge goes, I'm 15 minutes up te road so I'll be there, but I never play in the event. I HATE small tables, and waiting around all day for a short set. I'll be mingling by the Action tables.....
