Value? 1985 Joss Custom

My friend has a 1985 Joss Custom cue. He wants to know what the value of the cue is, but he doesn't know where ask so I thought I'd post here.

4 points, the points are rounded at the tips. Inlay BEM diamonds on each point. Appears to be BEM forearm / Cocobolo or Brazilian Rosewood in the points and butt sleeve. 5/16x18 piloted steel joint with solid black collars. On the black collar below the steel joint, "Joss Custom" in gold. Butt sleeve is plain.

I could be wrong about these figures because I didn't have a micrometer with me, nor my scale. I am guessing based on observation.
1 shaft, 12.5mm with slight roll out, shaft collar is not flush with steel joint sleeve by about 1mm-2mm, but does appear to match the joint collar below the joint sleeve by the same height if you line them both up.
Cue feels like it is a 19oz - 20oz.

Linen wrap appears to be intact, no serious damage, but slight wear and fraying from normal usage.

Finish is so-so, some gloss, but you can see some dings and dents from general play. One ding on butt sleeve appears to have go slightly past finish, but not by much. Rest of the cue appears to be pretty decent condition. It could use a refinish and a wrap cleaning/press.

This is purely my experience, but the Joss Professionals and Customs sell in this area for between 250-600, depending on the model. That one looks fairly plain(most were fairly intricate that I have seen), and looks to be in ok shape. I would guess about 300 or 350, but that is really a guess.
 
Thank you for the input, I had a feeling that would be the case. More input from anyone that is knowledgeable about Joss would be greatly appreciated!
 
I have a 86 Joss Custom, I agree that 300 to 400 would be the range for one shaft and a few minor issues.

These cues are worth far more than they bring IMHO, most mid 80's Joss cues are very strong playing cues.

Of course who knows what anything is worth these days, I see Richard Black for $800.00, Scruggs under a thousand, its craziness.

I agree with playability & believe they have always been a top quality cue. I have a 68-71 Joss that I bought in 1988 that I would not part with for any amount of money. I play 5 nights a week & other than clean hands & wipe the shaft down when done I have never had to do anything else - shaft still smooth as glass. Some minor cracks in the finish in the butt but I don't want to give it up for the time it would take for Danny to refinish it !!!!
 
Have had several of these 80 models over the years. They are good shooters. With the description you give and the wobble in the shaft, I would think 250-275 in todays market.IMO
