Value of a 25yo Joss Original?

Ok...

I'm goin with 87-88, pre-N-series, but during the time Joss had CUSTOMS written on joint. The series before the N-Series had a cue close to this one, with a different butt cap inlay.

And for the fellow that says 1000 is too high, Just try to find one. The old N-5 sells on Fleabay for 550 with 2 shafts - RETAIL on it was 425 back in the day. And The N-9(Which me and my father both own one) went for about 860 retail, 580 wholesale, and a year ago brought 950 with NO CASE on Ebay. You are talking to a Joss Junkie here.....

From the varied responses I decided to follow dirks lead and email photos to Joss. I called them this morning and emailed photos to info@josscues.com. Not more that 2 hours later I received this email from Dan Janes.

Mike,
This is an older Joss cue but I'm sorry I can't give you any information on it.
It was probably made in the 1980s or maybe 1990s But I don't have anything else I can tell you.

I will be trying to put together a listing of old cues that may show cues like this in the future.
It will be awhile before this is done.

Regards,
Dan

I am impressed that I got a reply so quickly. So, I will sign up for the list but may have to rely on someone that had a cue like this one on the board to get an exact build date. I don't know if the discrepancy in the build date makes the cues value differ. Currently it seems from the replies to vary from 400-1000 dollars.

Thanks to everyone who has replied and taken time to help me in this.

if i remember correctly bill and danny were together 68-72 tim was with danny from 73-78ish

also early 80's joss cues had dates joss 1983. lates ive seen that was 1986

i suspect this cue to be around 1988 or 1989

Most early to mid 80's Joss cues had "JOSS" at the joint in White letters instead of gold. Some had dates following the "JOSS" . I have seen them dated 1982-1986.

See if this picture makes any sense.

I play pool with a group of retired and older gentlemen at my pool hall. One of the guys that comes in every few weeks has a "Joss Original" cue. He told me that it was purchased before the "split." I don't know Joss history but it is over 25 years old and from what I have been told pre-dates Joss West. Anyhow, I have included some pictures and he was interested in its value. He does not use the internet so I am asking for him.
I do not know any of the specs of the cue such as weight etc. It does have a few dings and scrapes, however they are very small and a refinish would fix it all.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You can click on any of the pictures for the higher res versions.

Here the value is about 550-650

On ebay add a few hundred, at least that has been my experience with Joss gold letter cues. Nice cue, and the old joss cues play great. Shoot the new ones play pretty well as well.

I had one similar to this it had Joss Customs in Gold on the butt at the Joint and Joss customs in gold on the shaft at the joint it was valued at a little over 600.00 ... Sweet shooting cue ... It makes me wonder if that is the original shaft for that cue ...
