Varney Custom Cues

So, my second Varney cue came in yesterday, and I have to say that is by far the best playing cue I've ever owned! I had a sneaky that he made in 05, and that was a great player, but Kevin's made some changes since then, and I have to say his new ld shafts make a huge difference. This cue is a BEM and purple heart plain jane. I have to say.. the craftsmanship is flawless! It's got a nice solid hit that gives great feedback in tight spots, but at the same time doesn't feel like a noodle when you are powering balls in. Unfortunately, I've only gotten to spend about two hours with this new cue, so I played terrible. His new shafts have such a small amount of deflection that I felt like I couldn't make a ball after playing with a really stiff cue for so long! Anyway, Kevin is a really great communicator, and was very easy to work with when we threw this one together. So, all I can say is to go out and buy a cue from Mr. Varney! I am more than happy with mine, and he will definitely give you exactly what you want too.

Here are the specs...
12.75 mm wizard tip and juma ferrule
3/8-11 aluminum pin (I like a lighter cue)
Aegis (I think) joint collars and buttcap
The purpleheart is in the handle. It's just dyed black, which is pretty cool itself because you can still make out the grain.

Here's a picture, and there are more in the gallery if you want to take another look...

I heard he hired Eddie W. to clean his shop everyday.
He just pays him rubber cement. I wonder what Eddie uses the rubber cement for.

Nice player's cue. I've never seen black dyed pplheart.
Ppleheart is a heck a lot more stable than ebony I think.
A lot less messy too.
