Veneers

A friend of mine was showing me a new cue loaded with Ivory. There were 3 high points and 3 low points. The high points had 1 veneer and the low had none. The butt was all Ivory. Things just didn't quite come together perfectly just above the ring above the handle. The guy selling the cue told the potiental buyer that the cuemaker would gladly replace the veneer with silver.
Do you cuemakers change veneers in a finished cue or would you just make another cue with silver veneers? I have asked a cuemaker if he would do this for me in the past and he said he wouldn't do it. I am just curious.

Interesting question

Seems like replacing the veneers could be awfully
labor intensive for a cuemaker, and he may not be
able to keep his costs down on it very much.

If it is only a problem right above the handle, why not
just a ring for a double ring so the bottom of the points
don't show the alignment problem?

On the other hand, I have never forgotten that cue I saw
that had gold (not a veneer really - out a little from points)
that followed around the points. It was sharp, and I really
liked the gold inlay.

To change the rings, you would have to put on a new handle. I would really hate to see that white lizard wrap go to waste. The potiental buyer didn't like the color of the veneers. BLUE to match the abolone inlay work.

Sounds like a new cue would be needed, are they Vee points or CNC. I know nothing about CNC's but Vee points, I have a clue.
