I also have a couple of favorite veneer colors. I love the old classic style such as Palmer with a Szamboti points, or a Rambow before the Hoppe's became the standard. I still get excited when I see a sharp Paradise, or an early Titlist blank used by Ginacue.

I almost get a woody when I see someone's older cue with perfect points on top and razor sharp darts on the bottom. It turns me on when I know the cue was made almost 100 years ago.

Tascarella along side a Scruggs...
I love the contrast of both and I really like the BEM just looking at you in the Scruggs.

OK, I feel obliged

OK, I feel obliged to post a picture. Unfortunately my old casio digital camera does not do this
justice, and I also had a real tough time trying to light the cue without completely washing out
the colors. But this is my Meucci, my best cue, that has been siting in a case, since I'm getting
used to a cheaper cue that does not attract attention. The colors are much brighter than in the
picture, but I hope you enjoy the picture anyway. Comments are welcome also.

Believe it or not, there's bright orange, bright green, neutral, and black in there.

IMO there has never been a better combination than ebony points with white, lite blue, dk red mahogany, and black.

They have been.. well almost. The first James White was sold on my description to the customer over the phone. No need for pics or anything else. The second cue was sold a while ago and the third cue was on the site for a week or so.
Like you, I love nice veneering and I always design/choose nice looking arrangements. I think a nicely veneered cue is admired universally. To me picking the right veneer patterns can enhance the cue in many ways. They compliment certain inlay patterns, grain patterns in the wood, the colors of the main woods must also be considered. You could have the best inlays in the world, but put them in a maple forearm cue with chartreuse,brown, and pink veneers and what good are they?

What colors are the veneers; Black, red, red, red? The middle reds look almost as if they are metalic? Anyway the colors are very nice.

Very Subjective

I like the traditional colored veneers. And the colors will change a little depending on the maker and the die he uses.
On the Szamboti's I like to see black, red, black, natural. This was Gus's favorite color combination.
On the Bushkas I like black, red, red, natural and also black, orange, green and natural.

That middle veneer is like a Blue/Red.
But what really sets it off is how Pete went ahead made them of different thicknesses. Love that touch and made it unique.

Now this pattern was repeated one more time that I know of. There was an identical cue to this simple 4-pointer but the other cue was FANCY. RED Windows in the butt, French Diamonds of ivory in the windows and in the points, ivory joint and all topped off with fancy ring work. WISH I KNEW WHERE THE FANCY CUE WENT!. Only the seller knows for sure.

recut points

I've always been partial to natural color woods. I guess I can call these recut points veneers as it serves the same purpose of "Adding icing to the cake." From inside/out (Maple,Paduak,Osage Orange,Ebony)
