First, I just want to say how exciting following this tournament has been. It's been an amazing, grueling format, and I've been glued every day to the results. I can't remember ever feeling this way about a tournament. I am really, really impressed. I've never been more optimistic for the players!

My question concerns the Venetian, and how the staff seem to be accepting the event? I know the staff at the Riviera can't stand the 8-ball tournaments there; I have heard them complain that we basically wreck the joint. So I'm curious as to how this more upscale event seems to be going?

So to anyone that was there, if you had to guess, would you say that the Venetian would be happy to have everyone back?

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve, good question. I was there Monday thru Wednesday, and had a great time the Venitian is an awsome Hotel/Casino. It's so big I don't think a lot of employees knew about the pool tournament going on. They also had another event/convention this week with cosmotoligist (hair stylist) I think it was promoted by Revlon their event looked like it had more people than the IPT event. Overall I think the IPT has presented a classy event, they sure have put alot of money into it, I think the employees that know about it are enjoying it also. Peace.

I don't know how the staff at the Riv could say that the poolplayers wreck the place.

I find that very often the place is wrecked BECAUSE the staff doesn't come around enough to clean it up. You have 5-8000 people there spending a LOT of money to keep the Riviera in business and you'd think that the Riv could provide better service.

As for the Venetian - the IPT is a little blip to them. They have something like 20 convention halls - it's unreal. There could be 10 world class events in different sports/activities going on there and no one in the casino proper would have a clue about any of them. I want to see the IPT on the big board outside. When the IPT is advertised on the big marquees outside THEN you know they made it well beyond renting the convention space. Then the Venetian will promote the IPT because of the IPT's draw.
