Up for your consideration is a beautiful example of Mike Capone's very early work. This is one of the first ten cues that he made, and the first 8 pointer. I've had this cue since the mid 1990s, and I bought it from the original owner in Ewing, NJ. It's been my player ever since.
The butt is curly maple and ebony, weighs 16.15 oz, and has 8 points (4 high ebony and 4 short purple heartwood). The butt has three rings, two below the Irish linen wrap and one at the joint. All three are silver with purple heartwood centers.
I have two Capone shafts, the first weighs 3.85 oz and measures 11.84mm at the ferrule. The second shaft weighs 3.4 oz and measures 12.71mm at the ferrule. Both shafts have layered tips (Moori, if I remember correctly), and roll true.
The cue is 58" from the tip of the ferrule to the top of the butt cap, and is broken down evenly at 29"/29" at the joint.
Cue is in excellent shape, and hits phenomenally, like all Mike's do. As the cue is over 25 years old, it does have minor signs of use (not abuse or damage), so it wouldn't hurt to have it refinished, but I'll leave that up to the buyer.
Mike's cues with this amount of work in them list all day in the $2200+ range, and it's hard to find any of his 8 pointers to really compare to.
Given the condition, the age, and the provenance of this cue (verifiable through Mike), I'm asking $2200 obo.
Payment to be made through Paypal F&F, USPS money order, or certified check, and I will take care of express shipping and provide tracking. Insurance (if desired) will be the responsibility of the buyer.
If you have any questions or need to see any additional photos, shoot me a message. If you're serious and want to speak to me personally about the cue, message me your number and I'll call you.
Thanks.
