VF finals Davis vs Hatch

The finals will be starting in just a couple of minutes. I might be a litle biased cause Mike Davis is a good friend of mine. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer guy in the pool world. ;)

Best of luck to both Mike and Dennis. If Mike plays like he did last night this should be an exciting finals match.
 
Hatch wins the lag... planted the ball right on the end rail...
 
Hatch came up dry on the break. The balls are spread out pretty good...there's one problem ball on the spot that has a ball on either side but they're not touching...
 
What I thought was a problem ball was no problem for Mike. He just made a nice run out.

Mike's break
 
Mike pocketed a ball but there's a 4 ball cluster to the right of the spot. The cue ball is partially snookered behind a ball and right in front of the bottom corner pocket.
 
Mike opted for the solids. He has one ball on the outside of the 4 ball cluster... that ball goes clean and also gives him a way to break the 8 out of the cluster.
 
Mike is looking at the 8 ball as if he might not have to break it out...
 
Mike put the cue exactly where he wanted it and was able to play the 8 in the side... it was a great shot.

Hatch's break
 
Hatch comes up dry again.... two stripes are tied up but look like they would be makeable combo if need be.
 
Mike just got a tad out of line and cannot go with his original pattern because he can't see the ball he wanted to play.
 
Mike had to cross bank into the side because one of hatch's balls was blocking the path... he missed the cross bank.
 
Mike has a good spread but there's a stripe & solid tied up on the side rail at the 1st diamond from the corner pocket. The stripe will go in the corner but the solid will not. Mike has taken the stripes....
 
Mike just pocketed the ball that was tied up with the solid. He just made a nice long rail cut shot to get back in line.
 
Mike had a long slight cut shot on the 8 and he jawed it. Hatch's balls are all but sitting in pockets....
 
Hatch pockets 2 balls on the break.... cue ball is in the middle of the table and the balls are spread out nicely.
 
Mike has a look on his face that is a cross between being disgusted and being determined....
