VFD thread from the past?

I'm trying to find the VFD thread from a few years ago that described how to put a VFD on a lathe, and/or had a few examples from the people here who have done it. A buddy of mine wants to do this to his lathe. I have used the search for "vfd" but that is too short and nothing comes up. Also tried "variable frequency drive" but its not returning the thread I'm thinking of.

5bears.com has a great write up of this conversion for a mill, that I already pointed my buddy to.

Thanks for the help.

I should reemphasize that you are SUPPOSE to wire VFD's directly to the motors and use the low voltage bar for switching.

On the lathe in that post I used, and still do, it to convert single to three phase and run it through all the contactors ect on the machine. This isn't suppose to work and can damage the VFD. I have been running it like this without issue, but the techs at Lenze shake their heads. I bought tray cable to utilize all the features and wire it up properly, but just haven't done it yet.

I have another VFD for my Sharp TMV that would NOT drive the machine through the control circuits...
