Viattorre cue owners only

I am very close to having a custom vue made for me by the wonderful guys at Viattorre. I have never had the pleasure of hitting their cues though. I have always played production cues, I played Lucasi for years because they hit like a sledgehammer and I used to hit all my shots hard. Until a guy I was taking lessons from started teaching me better ball control, I moved from the hammer to a KC cue with a wood joint, more feel less hammer, but solid. How would you describe your cues and how did you get them built.

I currently have one Viattorre cue, and have a couple more in the works. If you go to www.viattorre.com, you will see my cue in the cue gallery section. It is the "Flames" cue.

The cue has a Jet black gaboon ebony forearm, with 8 high-low Tulipwood points. Black leather wrap and a tulipwood buttsleeve with a few ivory, ebony and bloodwood inlays. The inlays in the buttsleeve depict a tribal design and "torches" with the bloodwood flames coming out at both ends of the torch.

Truthfully, the cue started out as a simple design, without any inlays. It was Jack who suggested the inlays in the buttsleeve (he came up with the design as well), and he also suggested the points in the forearm be made into 8 points (I originally wanted 6). Jack told me that with 6 points, the points would be too wide.

I callled the cue "Flames" because the different shades of the Tulipwood on the black gaboon ebony forearm suggested a cue that was on fire.

It's a simple looking cue with some great wood used on it. :) Plus, the fact that I had input on the construction of the cue at all times makes it really special for me.

Two shafts, both with ivory ferrules completes the package. The cue weighs 19.7oz with the hard maple shaft. Exactly the weight that I asked for from Jack. One thing to note...there is no metal in the cue except for the Radial pin. The balance is exceptional...and the hit and playability is very consistent and top notch.

I am sure that you will be very happy with your cue when you get it.

I am eagerly waiting for my other cues to be finished. :)

I'm not yet a Viattorre owner but I have already placed my order. Hopefully I will be able to receive my cue early next year. My design would be simple but a classic one using beautiful wood. I have never been fond of Philippine made cues. I guess its because most of the Philippine made cues I have seen did not come up to my standards. My decision to get a Viattorre cue was based on my seeing one of his unfinished cue and the feedback from his other customers that I know personally. Based on the unfinished cue, which still needs a few more finishing coats, the craftsmanship was top notch, the points were sharp and the finish, even if its still only a few coats, was very clear and shiny. After receiving my Dayton, I didn't think I would be getting another custom cue this soon. I guess I just can't pass up on a deal like this.

I consider myself one of the proud owners of a Viattorre cue. I can't say enough about how pleased I am in dealing with these people. Mr. Tan was very patient with me as I bombarded him with questions and my alterations to the cue. Everything about the cue is top notch and definitely on par with American makers. I was so pleased with my cue that I have ordered another one for myself and 2 to give for Christmas gifts. Hopefully, they'll be done before Christmas. I don't think you can go wrong with ordering a cue from Viattorre. They sure know what their doing and don't charge an arm and a leg.

I figured that I would only get positives about these guys, because that is all I have to say about them myself. Jack has been great in working with me, understanding my ideas, putting up with my nit-picking and constant fine tuning of the product. I will place my order and they will get my business. I just wish they weren't half the earth away. But I always said I would go to the ends of the earth to get what I wanted.

I had the same fears as you since they were so far away. They treated me with respect and kept me up to date during the whole building process. I never had a thing to worry about. I think they'll treat you the same way as they did me.

Dont mind the distance...Jack will keep you up to date on your cue's progress with pictures. :)

I myself get more updates via pictures than by actually meeting up with Jack. Although I live in the Philippines, I am out of the country a lot because of business, and Jack went through the trouble of emailing pictures to me. When Jack put up his website, he created a "Cues in Progress" portion for his customers...so now you can see your cue at practically all points during the construction of the cue.

Right now, Jack is making 3 more cues for me (one is for a very good friend), and I can see the progress of each of these cues.

Hi,
I live in Canada and had no problems with the viatorre cues I ordered from jack. He takes excellent care in packaging them and shipping them out.

To be honest, since it was from another country, I was a bit skeptical in placing an order ; plus, I have not heard much about the company (except for what I heard from my close friend who really recomended it).

IMHO the cue looks and hits great, plus, the price is very good. I guess it is no surprise that I am in the process of ordering my third cue from him.

Jack is a great guy to deal with. He will take the time to answer your questions.

I am even more excited now than when I was before. Do you guys have any pics of yout cues that you can post?

that's one nice cue nbc (the flames one); it's nice to have a filipino cuemaker with uniloc radial pin options...you said the only metal in that cue is the joint; so what's the ring in the joint made of?

I was talking to Mr Tan before about a cue design that I had but the only thing that I was concerned about was the shipping. Does anyone know what the cost of shipping is from the philippines to the US. I wanted something made by a filipino cuemaker but I didnt want the shipping to be more than the cue itself. My family sends things to the philippines all the time but I dont think it is the same as shipping a cue..... unless he ships the cue in a balikbayan box :)

Shipping can cost anywhere from $25 (via Postal EMS) to around $45 (via DHL or Fedex) for a single cue.

Shipping via Postal EMS takes around 10 business days...and via courier should take around 3 business days.

FEDEX is about 50 - 60 USD 2-3 days delivered to your doorstep

EMS is much cheaper about 20 USD , 10 - 15 days I think, you pick up at postal office

What's a balikbayan box?

BTW, my cue was shipped by EMS and didn't cost anywhere near what the cue itself cost.
